Smoked veneer
We have a very large selection of dark, earth-coloured veneers. The slightly different tones of the veneer wood and the different tannic acid contents in the wood create an incomparable play of colours from dark wood tones.
Smoking is a process that was already used 150 years ago. The wood is treated with ammonia. All woods rich in tannin, such as oak, apple tree, pine, larch, service tree and Douglas fir, are suitable for smoking.
The reaction of the acid in the wood with ammonia as a base produces the dark colouring in the wood. The discolouration remains absolutely stable to ageing and to the greatest possible extent to light. Wood that is not completely pitted remains light in the sapwood area.
The smoked woods come from responsible forestry and are FSC® or PESC® certified.
Among others, we also offer the following smoked veneers:
Acacia smoked
Douglas fir smoked
Oak smoked
Mulberry smoked
